OV-Fiets

In the spirit of bike sharing systems this week, I wanted to share this video that I saw on David Hembrow’s site about the Dutch OV-Fiets bike sharing system. OV-Fiets can be roughly translated to Public Transport Bikes. The OV-Fiets system operates in tandem with public transit, due, in part, to the fact that bicycle use is so common in the Netherlands that trains can’t allow every commuter to bring their bike on the train. Additionally, as the video shows, 400 OV-Fiets were recently sent to Vancouver for the Olympics.
