It was a sales trend first sparked by the oil embargo of the 1970’s. Now it looks like high gas prices are bringing bicycling back.
Greg Daniels is finally having the last laugh.
“I’ve been riding for years and among all the harassment I’ve gotten about being a bicyclist, I’ve been telling people all along one day they’ll wish they’d been riding, too,” he said.
Many of those people are stopping in at Hawley’s Bicycle World lately. Workers there sayidthere’s no mistaking what’s fueling business.
“We’ve seen an increase in sales and service,” Mark Taylor of Hawley’s Bicycle World said. “As gas prices have risen, people are looking to more commuting.”
