Overview

Ultimate in Lightweight Touring

The Tubus Airy is the world’s first titanium carrier. The Airy is lightweight, durable, and ideal for minimalist touring. The Airy is rated to carry 30 kg or approximately 65 lbs, yet it only weighs a mere 0.43 lbs., which includes the titanium struts that mount the Airy to your bicycle’s frame. The Airy is compatible with both 700c and 26″ wheels.

The V-shaped frame of the Airy is sleek and low profile, and it is designed with two mounting options. The Airy can be mounted using two aluminum struts that attach to eyelets on your bicycle’s seat-stays, or it can be mounted using one aluminum strut that attaches centrally to your bicycle’s brake bridge.

Note: The Tubus Airy is a specific rack design intended to fit on bicycles that have traditional seat-stay bridges including a centered, tapped fender mounting hole. If your bicycle does not have this type of design, read below for options.

The body and struts of the Airy are made of titanium. Titanium is rust and corrosion resistant. Any scratches or blemishes that your Airy incurs during travel can be easily buffed out with an emery cloth. This makes the Airy extremely strong and nearly indestructible.

Take a moment to review our wide selection of panniers to mount on your Airy from Ortlieb, Jandd, Vaude, and other panniers.

If your bicycle doesn’t have upper eyelets, use the Tubus Seat Stay Mount. These are available in five sizes to fit any bike. For bikes without lower mounting eyelets, the Tubus Quick Release Adapter is available.

Tubus Titanium Airy Rack

This rack is on my “Sonder” “Camino Ti”. This is my EVERYTHING bike. I ride excess of 100 miles a week for exercise. I commute around town on it and the Tubus Airy Rack enables me to do all my grocery shopping with this bicycle. This is a true Green Energy vehicle

Stellar Rack. And a shop that rocks!

It's not easy to find titanium rear racks (or front racks). This is one of the few. And if you're seeking one that is simple and stealth (no branding all over it) than this is it. Purchased to blend in with my Ti rig (Bearclaw Thunderhawk), otherwise I would of gone with a steel rack if it was a steel rig for example. Wanted something with a minimal space footprint. I don't need to bring the entire house with me if I'm going on an adventure, and I also don't want to yank it on and off all the time. Something that was perfect for city commutes, short desert adventures, and minimal packing for longer adventures. I have been running an Apidura kit from front to back (9L/front, half frame bag, and 9L/saddle bag). But got rid of the Apidura saddle bag, as the rack adds so much more versatility. A large dry sack on the rack and some voile straps (Campfire has plenty of straps), and you're set. And when you don't need the dry sack, roll it up and stash it on frame bag or handlebar bag for when you need it. Hitting the farmers market...strap a basket on...or...just use the dry sack. It's just so much more flexible in my eyes than a saddle bag (aka seatpost bag or whatever you want to call it). It's pricey. But that's all relative. Do you want gear that lasts? That you trust? I personally don't spare expense. Sometimes you can...and sometimes you can't. And I simply can't say enough about the team of fellow crazies over there. As passionate about human powered movement as I am. And without the negative vibe that sometimes can be the norm in a lot of shops.

Tubus Airy Titanium Rear Rack is Great on my Lynskey Cooper

The Tubus Airy Titanium rack was promptly shipped by Campfire Cycling and upon opening the package was gorgeous to behold. Once installed on my Lynskey Cooper with its brushed finish, looked even better. The color, matching finish and the lines created by the addition of the rack are a work of art. Oh, and the rack is plenty beefy. It will haul as much as I will ever need for cycle-touring for days or weeks when motel staying. Light camping gear can be added, but its best use is for keeping things light, stable and secure while making good time down the road on your light Ti rig. If you're riding Ti you need this rack!
