Overview

When you spend time in the saddle everyday or for long periods of time there is nothing worse than a cheap saddle. The Selle Anatomica X Series is the perfect upgrade for the daily commuter or the long distance tourer.

Leather has long been the choice for the touring crowd. With its supple texture, the fact that it will wear and break in to your specific riding style, and its long life expectancy, a leather saddle is pretty much a no brainer.

The Selle Anatomica X Series TruLeather saddles features 4130 chromoly rails and a dual laminate design support the full grain leather top. The specific shape of the patented slot’s inverted rear wings allows the saddle to move with you. Selle Anatomica calls it Flex-Fly. It reduces perineal pressure, sit bone pain, and saddle sores. This saddle has no break in period. It feels good from day one. Two full leather laminates help to increase the longevity of the saddle and still provide the right amount of elasticity under your sit bones. This is the saddle for high mileage riders (more than 100 mi/week) or those between 160 and 250 pounds.

Warranty
    • We make no guarantees or promises. Bicycle riding, specifically placing your bottom on a saddle presents significant compromises that will never be completely overcome by the best product design or physical fitness. Your comfort and health on a bike will only be as good as your willingness to search for a good saddle, fit yourself to your bike and physically train and treat your body appropriately. It is incumbent upon you, the consumer, to research your particular needs with the help of your physician, physical therapist, other health care professional, bicycle builder, mechanic, or industry specialist in order to understand and meet your specific needs. Bicycle saddles present significant anatomic compromises and pitfalls. For the male cyclist, compression on the vulnerable scrotal and internal pudendal vessels and nerves and those delicate vessels intertwined with the dependent spermatic cord creates pressure on and interrupts blood flow through them. The outcome is numbness in the genitals, tenderness and bruising in the surrounding soft tissues and exposed body points and risk of impotence and sterility. For the female cyclist, pressure on the external genitalia and exposed boney points can create or result in painful contusions. Selle Anatomica saddles provide essential relief and flexible resilient support to male and female anatomies. The flexible fenders provide essential additional surface area that spreads the weight bearing load otherwise limited to a narrow anterior to posterior – traverse band through the pelvic floor or pelvic basin. Contrary to its name, the anatomic pelvic floor is a relatively weak structure. It is not designed to carry a substantial amount of weight nor can it shield the neurovascular structures within the pelvic basin. Selle Anatomica saddles provide an essential area of central pressure relief. They are able to flex up and down independently on the left and right sides and provide internal/external wing like flexing as the rider pedals, sparing the rider progressive insult or permanent injury when properly adjusted on an appropriately fit bike frame. Selle Anatomica makes no claim or guarantee regarding your individual health and well being due to the use of our products.

Selle Anatomica X Series Saddle

This is my second SA saddle and was pleasantly surprised to find updates to the original that I purchased many years ago-the saddle rails were reshaped for increased strength and compatibility with more seatposts. As with my previous SA saddle, the comfort of the saddle vs. conventional saddles was immediately apparent, even from the first ride. Little to no soreness, muted road impacts and the lack of chafing are my primary reasons for buying this saddle. The only drawback to the saddle is the weight-typically more than double the weight of a racing saddle.
