Burley’s Alternative Hitch for Quick Release is suitable for bicycles that feature Breezer-style, socketed dropouts.
The Alternative Hitch for Quick-Release is available in standard (125mm-135mm) or tandem (140mm-160mm) spacing.
For further information concerning choosing the best hitch choice for your bicycle, please read our Guide to choosing the correct Burley Hitch for your bike .
We offer the flex connector/safety-strap kit as an option for the Burley Alternative Hitch. This kit includes the the flex connector, safety strap, the lock pin, and the bolt for connecting the trailer’s flex connector to the trailer’s hitch arm. Only one flex connector/safety strap kit is needed per trailer. If you are purchasing additional hitches for using your trailer on multiple bikes, you will not need another flex connector/safety-strap kit. If you are upgrading your trailer’s hitch from the Classic Hitch, you will need a new safety strap assembly so you should get a flex connector/safety-strap kit.
Burley recommends that you replace the flex connector every five years. Most 2007 and newer Burley trailers use a square tongue while most pre-2007 models use round tongues.
