Going Full Scorp – June. 30, 2025
After being sick and avoiding the outdoors for over a week, Johnny and I decided to hit up Sabino Canyon after dark. We took our black light flashlights with the hopes of spotting some creepy crawly friends and it did not disappoint! We saw 30+ scorpions, ranging from the size of a dime to the size of my hand. If you didn’t know, scorpions can be easily seen at night with the help of a black light, due to the hyaline layer on their exoskeletons. While scientists don’t know the exact reasoning for this bioluminescent glow, I can safely say that the reason they do this is to tell me to STAY AWAY! The message was received loud and clear! Thanks nature!
What Does The C Mean?? – June. 23, 2025
If you’ve spent enough time in southern Arizona during the summer, you know the “c” on your faucet stands for “caliente”. It’s regional of course, so if you’re from a cooler climate, this might surprise you. Last Thursday, Tucson temps skyrocketed to 113 degrees on my commute home. Brutal. Once I got into the house, I turned on the faucet to wash my hands and was absolutely mortified by how hot the water was, coming out of the “c” side. I quickly grabbed my thermometer to document this momentous occasion and she read a cool 110 degrees….so, basically, this is a PSA to stay cool out there friends! And if you can, insulate those pipes to minimize the “caliente effect”.
First Week, First Tidbit – June. 16, 2025
My first week at Campfire, I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Cayce, Brittany and Lulu. And if you don’t know who I’m talking about, well, you’re missing out. Like a moth to a flame, Lulu pulled me into her orbit. From the custom Surly stickers to the purple Gravelking tires (and there is so much more in between) I just couldn’t get enough. It was like looking at myself as a bike, and I loved the way I looked! This bike so perfectly represents Cayce’s personality: fun, adventurous and one of a kind. While I’m sure many more bikes will come in that I will inevitably fall in love with, Lulu will forever be my “love at first sight” bike shop bike. She’s a beaut, Cayce!
